My name is Sharan Longton and I am the founder of Jones Road Creative. Thanks for visiting. Let me tell you a little about how Jones Road Creative came to be…

I developed a love for all things creative as a child while spending time at my grandparents house on Jones Road in the quaint little village of Kenthurst, Sydney. During my visits to ‘Ma & Pa’s’ home I would sit for hours with a box of Derwents and some fresh paper… The possibilities that a blank canvas and a box of pencils could provide would be all the inspiration I needed…A blank canvas still inspires me to this very day.

My Pa, Neil would consider himself somewhat of an artist and would spend countless hours teaching me about different mediums and how to apply them. He would teach me about how to achieve perspective, shading, colour and tone. It was during these times I found myself daydreaming about the endless possibilities my imagination could provide.

During my older years my love for drawing and creating and never diminished and the term ‘creative’ was a common theme throughout my school life. I participated in dancing, drama and art and I especially loved being part of the production and design team for our theatre productions. As a young adult I decided to study in the field of Marketing, gaining a Business Degree. From there I spent the majority of my career in this field. It was here I gained an understanding of client relationships and how to deliver a product to market effectively. While enjoyable it did not appease my inner creative, so I would often release my inner creative in my personal time. This release turned into a love and career in cake artistry where I became an instructor of the art for students as well as a freelance designer.

With a young family and a military husband I found myself needing a nine to five job once more. My time spent in running my own businesses and working in the field of sales and marketing helped to dip my toe in the water of graphic design. I decided that this was the answer. I could have my regular job doing something that inspires me while continuing to feed my inner creative.

Jones Road Creative is an homage to my grandparents Neil and Dot and the quaint little home at 38 Jones Road where I developed a passion for all things creative.
